Welcome to our page on and for network committees. Standing Committees were established in October 2007 at our First Annual Conference. Please see below for committee descriptions.

Each committee has been given a space to communicate, plan and organize. You may upload minutes from past meetings, post events on the calendar and use the website blog to discuss/plan within your group to prevent clogging up your e-mail in-box.

You can subscribe to a committee group as an RSS feed to stay up to dates on the posts.

The third annual summit of the Minnesota Network of Latinos in Higher Education is schedule for October 9th and 10th, 2009. Please mark your calendars! We are still in the process of looking at and considering potential themes for this year’s summit. If you want to attend out next planning meeting, please contact Frank Hernandez at fhernandez01@hamline.edu

The year’s summit will include breakout sessions for students, staff, and faculty and an opportunity to connect with others at your institution or regional area. We will also have an exciting keynote speaker and engaging panel discussions.

Advocacy Committee

Advocacy Committee

This committee advocates for issues impacting Latinos in Higher Education. In essence this committee is defining and acting on issues such as recruitment and retention of Latinos in higher education, combating isolation and increasing academic preparation. We're organizing our efforts around institutional support, policy positions and trainings. Current efforts include developing an endorsement letter for presidents and institutions to sign acknowledging the importance of Latino succes in education at their particular site, a Report Card for Latino-Supportive Institutions, a position paper on access, particularly for undocumented students and  we are developing workshops by us and for us to increase our capacity for success at and within our institutions.

Membership Committee

Membership Committee

Saludos!  The Membership Committee is  responsible for providing a structure for individuals and institutions be become members of the network.  At this time, the Board has decided to switch from an individual membership structure to an institutional membership structure and so the Membership Committee is focusing on developing a process for that to happen-membership forms, changes to the website, updating the database and developing a plan for how to work with schools for them to become members and to spread the word to people on their campuses about the Network and their membership in the Network. If you are interested in being involved or would like to know more about the network, please contact info@mnlatinosinhighered.org.  We particularly interested in finding someone to maintain our database.

Communications Committee

Communications Committee

The Communication Committee coordinates electronic and print communication for the network. One of the committe's primary tasks is the Network website. While we  continue to change and re-think the website, we believe it is an exciting place for us to share information, network, organize, advocate, and collaborate.
