MN Latinos in Higher Education

Come one come all-this semester, the Social Hours will fall on the THIRD Friday of the month.   Our first one will occur at Pepitos on Chicago and 48th in South MPLS. The owner, long time local Chicano resident is excited to support our group!  He also owns the Parkway Theater next door-stay for the movie!

The Network of Latinos in Higher Education is happy to announce its 2nd Annual Summit being taking place Friday October 10 and Saturday October 11. The summit will be held at Hamline University at the Klas Center. This year's summit, "Building a Supportive Latino Campus", will focus on the importance of supporting institutions, faculty, and staff to build a more welcoming and supportive institution for Latino students.

This month's board meeting will be held at the beautiful campus of Hamline University-hosts of this year's annual Summit. Room number and details to follow.

Latino Families from the communities of Long Prairie, Melrose, Sauk Center, Cold Springs, and St. Cloud are Invited to  for a fine Mexican Meal at  --                                El Portal Restaurant in Melrose, 207 County Rd 173

Latino Students, staff, and faculty from St. Cloud State Univ, Ridgewater College, College of Saint Benedict & St. John's University, St. Cloud Technical College, and Alexandria Technical College will be attending this event to promote the opportunities in higher education for Latino students. The event is being organized by the Minnesota Network of Latinos in Higher Education.

The Network of Latinos is Higher Ed will be having a workshop for students intersted in going to graduate school from 3:30-5:30 at the University of Minnesota's Law School. The workshop will include presenters speaking about the application proces, financial aid, and preparation for graduate school. There will also be a few graduate students speaking about their experiences, followed by a mini college fair, where students can speak to representatives from various professional and graduate programs.

The MNLHE will have its 7th Board of Directors meeting on June 14, 2008 at Metropolitan State University in St Paul, MN. Room-Library 231
